The Solstice is coming…..CELEBRATE!!

A solstice is an astronomical event that happens twice each year, when the tilt of the Earth’s axis is most inclined toward or away from the Sun, causing the Sun’s apparent position in the sky to reach its northernmost or southernmost extreme. The name is derived from the Latin sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still), because at the solstices, the Sun stands still in declination; that is, the apparent movement of the Sun’s path north or south comes to a stop before reversing direction. Out to nowhere….

I failed at my race and I’m paying the price. I should have just quit when nothing went right but instead I kept going. I don’t even care that I finished. I was sick, my ankles are swollen….again, a martyr….what a waste of energy.

Epic Colorado

The last few weeks have been epic Colorado weeks. I was growled at by a mountain lion. I rocked it at RockyGrass. And finally, I climbed a glacier to summit and see expansive Rocky Mountain views. Ahhh…. Colorado.

Confusion

I’ve been running a lot lately. I’m training for a pretty long race…

I’ve also been closing my business (my baby) which I’ve owned for just over 7 years. I’m going back to school. It’s like taking a deep breath under the springtime sun with your eyes closed. That’s the best way I can describe it because although I am sad I’m turning a new leaf…

So, why am I telling you this? Well, I’ve pegged my personality type as being martyr. I realized this as I started running these races because It takes a martyr type to finish. I wonder, now that I have grown from this place, will I finish this race? Will it take on new meaning?

Happiness

I have found that my ultimate happiness consists of long trail runs out my back door.

Oreamnos Adventures…..

I moved to Colorado in July of 2008 and came across my first live mountain goat soon after. We had summited mount Bierstadt earlier and had made our way toward Mount Evans when the white puffy congregation appeared. It was a noteworthy way to greet the sunrise. With the Oreamnos on my mind I started this blog… yet this is the first time I’ve thought to note my adventure.
